Andrew

Greetings! I'm Andrew Lair, currently studying Business Finance in college with aspirations for an MBA and a Juris Doctorate. Alongside my studies, I offer tutoring services in accounting and writing. Outside academia, you'll find me at the gym, on the basketball court, or engrossed in a good book. I'm thrilled to join you on your academic journey and help you achieve your goals. Let's make every step count!

Darelle

Hello! My name is Darelle (she/her), and I am a new writing tutor here at Longview! I am a general studies major and plan to pursue a Computer Science bachelor's degree. I am also involved in various clubs and organizations. If you see me around campus, feel free to say hi!

Donovan (he/him)

Hello everyone! My name is Donovan Murnieks, and my preferred pronouns are he/him. I am a student here at Longview. I love going to school here and living in Lee's Summit in general. I lived in Colorado for the first 10 years of my life and then in Oregon. I can honestly say that Missouri has been my favorite place to live. I am working towards a finance major then an MBA and eventually a Juris Doctorate. I tutor English and communication.

Hannah

Hi, I'm Hannah. I enjoy hiking in the woods, touring museums, and playing piano. Above these, I really like learning and helping others succeed in their learning. I get the privilege of doing this at MCC Longview by tutoring English at the Learning Center. I can't wait to meet and work with you!

Ibrahim

Hey everyone! My name is Ibrahim Alborno, I’m currently getting my general education classes out of the way, and I’ll be tutoring Mathematics and English at MCC Longview. I enjoy learning about different subjects and focusing on furthering my education. A random fact about me is that I’m Bilingual in Arabic and English. I look forward to taking advantage of this opportunity and helping students reach their goals in those two subjects.

Hello, I’m Jessie Nguyen and a writing tutor in the Learning Center. I enjoy drawing, listening to music and hanging out with family and friends. I’ll be studying to major in law and minor in art. I’d like to get along with everyone and help as much as I can!

Lydia

Welcome students! My name is Lydia Um. I am currently pursuing an Associate of Arts degree at MCC and working as a writing tutor at the Learning Center. In between classes and meeting students in the Writing Studio, I love spending time in nature and painting what I discover. I am looking forward to meeting you and learning about the passions you bring to your education!

Maggie (she/her or they/them)

My name is Maggie (she/her and they/them), and I'm an MCC and UCM graduate. I've been a writing tutor since 2016 when I began my teaching journey at MCC and discovered my passion for writing tutoring. I spend most of my time writing poetry, hanging out with my pets, and playing video games. I'm looking forward to working with you!

Melissa

Hello, my name is Melissa, and I will be helping in the Writing Lab and as a classroom tutor this school year. I’m in my second year of my associate degree here at MCCKC and have found that I love helping students unlock their full potential in English. 

Mieke

Hello! My name is Mieke (pronounced Mee-kah), and my pronouns are she/her. I have taken classes on and off at MCC for more than 5 years. In 2022, I found my calling in counseling psychology and began attending full time. I am excited for my first semester as a tutor for both Spanish and Writing. I would love to get a chance to help you develop study skills, improve as a writer or Spanish student, and do well in college. I love children and spend most of my time with my boyfriend and his six-year-old son.

Hello, I am Michael Sublette and I am an OEF veteran. I decided last year to return to college to pursue a degree in Finance. Along the way, I have been invited to become a writing tutor for the Longview campus! I look forward to helping you all with anything you need and don’t be shy to stop in and say hello at the Learning Center.

Hello! My name is Sarah, and my pronouns are she/her. I am currently a student at UMKC working towards my bachelor’s in English. My goal is to work in publishing as an editor or writing coach. I am a writing tutor in the Writing Studio, and I'm excited to help students achieve their academic writing and creative writing goals. In my spare time I love to read and write, play video games, and I’ve played and coached roller derby for the last 11 years. I hope to help my peers in their success here at MCC and beyond!

Hello! My name is Simmy Kandola and my preferred pronouns are she/her. I am currently working on my bachelor's in Social Work and minoring in Law & Society at KU. I am able to tutor writing and Spanish. I enjoy reading, singing and listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. I am excited to continue learning, and I hope to make learning a better experience for others!

Hi all! My name is Victoria Blackman, and I was homeschooled.  I was a peer coach, which means I helped students with assignments, study skills, and getting back on track with schooling. Now I will be working as a writing tutor. My major is criminal psychology with the goal to work in a prison. I enjoy spending time with my family and pets. My favorite hobby is painting.
