MCC Libraries offer laptop checkouts at all locations! All enrolled students are eligible to borrow a laptop for the entire semester at no cost. All laptops come equipped with Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Education, built-in webcam and microphone, WiFi capability, and USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 ports.
Microsoft Office does not come pre-installed on our laptops, however Office 365 is free for MCC Students. Office 365 includes Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and more. For more information, visit MCC's Online Technical Support page.

Is there a fee for checking out a laptop?
No, there is no cost to check out a laptop. However, there are fees if you break, lose, or do not return your laptop. Those fees are:
Laptop $370
Tote bag $17
Power Cord $30
*Note: if you fail to return your laptop and are not currently enrolled, a Business Office hold will be put on your account.
You have the option of purchasing a new power cord/charger instead of paying the $30 fee. See the Ordering a Replacement Laptop Charger document for links to purchase the correct power cord for your laptop.
Who can check out a laptop?
All currently enrolled students are eligible.
Where do I go to get a laptop?
Laptops can be checked out at the Circulation Desk in the library, located on the second floor of the Learning Resources building. You will return your laptop here as well.
How long is the checkout period?
You may keep your laptop for the entire semester. Laptops are due on or before the last day of finals each semester.
Can I renew my laptop checkout?
Yes, if you are currently enrolled for the following semester, you may renew your laptop checkout. Contact the library for information on how to renew.
Do I need to bring anything when I come to the library?
Please bring a photo ID, such as your MCC student ID or a state issued ID.
What types of laptops do you have available? We have two laptop sizes available, 11.6” and 15.6”. All laptops come equipped with Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Education, built-in webcam and microphone, WiFi capability, and USB 2.0 and/or 3.0 ports.

Can I install my own software?
Yes, you can install your own software. Please note, you are responsible for purchasing any software that is not provided for free.
Is there any setup involved?
There is some basic setup involved, however you will be provided with step-by-step instructions to set up your laptop.
Do you ever run out of laptops?
We do run out of laptops on occasion. When this happens, we do our best to acquire more, however this is not always possible. It is always best to come as early as possible to guarantee availability.
How do I return my laptop?
Please bring your laptop to the Circulation Desk in the library, located on the second floor of the Learning Resources building. You do not need to erase the laptop, as our IT department erases all laptops upon return.
