Google Scholar is a search engine that searches the web for scholarly literature and academic resources. However, Google Scholar is not as comprehensive as the results you will find on most libraries' databases nor does it allow you to search with the more sophisticated strategies that are available on a library database!
Don't pay for a Google Scholar article, as you can change your Google Scholar settings to link the results so that you see whether the documents are located through your library's databases. Follow the steps in the next section of this guide to link your MCC Library's databases to Google Scholar. If you do this process correctly to the right of your results you should see a link that says MCC Journal Finder for items at MCC. When clicked you will be able to login to your library's database and get the full text of the article, which for the example below is one titled Truman and the Democratic Party.
Follow these directions to link your library (MCCKC) resources to Google Scholar
(If the article is available on a library database, then there will be a direct link to it to the right of your search results.)
Step 1 scholar.google.com
Steps 2-3 Click in upper left, choose settings
Step 4 Click Library links
Steps 5-8 Type in MCCKC, click the blue looking glass, check “Metropolitan
Community College . . .,“ save

Use the Google Scholar Advanced Search, if you want more precise searching. Find it by clicking on the three horizontal lines at the top left of the screen, which is the same location as the settings mentioned in the box above.
