Information Overload vs Smarter Google Searching

The methods explained here will hopefully help you manage the information overload inherent in Google Searches.

When you search Google there are tools and ways to limit your search results displayed right underneath the search box that appear with your results. In the picture below notice in yellow the tools box which when clicked brings up the option to select a certain time and "All results" or verbatim results.  The red box is visible on all results pages, whether or not you click on Tools. FYI - due to the terms "Kansas City" and Independence in your search terms your first result is a map. Google tools which limit your search results

ALSO, Google allows you to modify a search through an advanced search. If you learn to use this it can save you time, as the advanced search allows you to modify the results in several ways:

  • language of results
  • file format of results
  • last date updated
  • where search terms occurs in results
  • domain of results
  • and more . . .
