A database created by Michigan State University links multiple university databases. It allows users to "explore or reconstruct the lives of individuals who were enslaved, owned slaves, or participated in the historical trade." As well as "run analyses of enslaved populations and create maps, charts, and graphics."

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormons), this site contains a large and freely searchable archive. Among the data are: the Social Security Death Index (SSDI), U.S. Federal Census for 1880 or the 1881 census for both the British Isles and Canada, a vital records index containing birth, marriage, and death records from around the world.

World-wide cemetery database which often links to relatives of the decedent.

A collaboration by the Smithsonian, the National Archives, the Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has1.5 million historical documents available online allowing descendants of former African-American slaves to learn more about their family roots. The Freedmen’s Bureau was created near the end of the US Civil War to help newly-freed slaves in postbellum America.
