K-12 Resources for Students and Teachers - Longview

This guide provides resources for K-12 teachers and students who want to learn more about the MCC-Longview library.

K-12 Resources

Longview Library outreach to the K-12 school community includes library instruction and tours to students using the library. We are happy to visit K-12 schools to discuss research expectations in college, and working with high school teachers and librarians to integrate information literacy skills into their curriculum.

The purpose of this guide is to:

  • Promote higher education: visiting the MCC - Longview Campus Library provides students the opportunity to see for themselves what a college library looks like and to sense the energy created by a community of dedicated students.
  • Build information literacy: using this interactive guide and the resources available in our library will expose students to the many resources available in an academic library setting and make them comfortable in this environment.
  • Enhance research: K-12 students can visit our special collections, such as the Truman Collection and the Longview Historical Archives, to conduct primary source research. Our reference collection, including encyclopedias and almanacs, can help expand research across all areas of the curriculum.

Please contact the library if you would like to schedule a tour or a school visit at 816-604-2080.
