MCC - eBooks and Audiobooks

The purpose of this guide is to familiarize patrons with finding, accessing, downloading eBooks and to introduce users to all of the tools available with eBooks.

Accessing and Reading on a Computer (EBSCO)

Note: When accessing library eBooks, you may decide to email the item to yourself. If you want to be able to retrieve the eBook from your email account, you will have to create an account on EBSCO first. For instructions on creating an EBSCO account, click here.

Access the Metropolitan Community College web page (  From the webpage, select "Library."

Towards the center of the page, select "Catalogs"

Select the catalog you wish to search.

Enter the search terms to find an eBook on the subject you would like to locate.

A list of resources will be brought to you.  The items with a burgundy icon next to them are eBooks.

Once you find an eBook that looks like it may be helpful, select the name of the college system or campus you attend.

A great deal of information about the book will be provided, including a link to a .PDF version of the book.

Select the .PDF link and the book will open on your computer screen.

There are many features of an eBook, including a button for the table of contents, a button that allows you to search for terms within the eBook, a place to add notes about the book, a place to save the entire book or specific pages to a folder, the ability to e-mail pages, tools to help you cite the book, and a dictionary to help find the meaning of terms you may not be familiar with.  You can "turn the pages" of the eBook using the arrows at the bottom of the page.
