Biography and Profiles Research Guide - Longview

To search for a person:

Try three different searches in the online catalog.

• A keyword search for his/her name: Rosa Parks
• A subject search with last name, first name: Parks, Rosa
• An author search to see if the person has written an autobriography: Parks, Rosa

Also look for books related to the person you are searching - what time period did they live, what are they famous for?

Example for Rosa Parks: Civil Rights Movement, African American Women, American Women

Checkout these enjoyable reads and interesting people - biographies, memoirs and historical non-fiction.

Reference books do not check out but are great resources for profile essays. If you can't find information on whomever you are profiling, check with a reference librarian and we will help you locate a reference book that may contain a profile entry.
