How to Use the ProQuest Research Library Database: Step By Step : Home

v.2; 2025/10

Start Here

  1. Go to the MCC Library Databases page, select the ProQuest database, and log in.
Click on the ProQuest Research Library hyperlinked text.
Log in using MCC email address and password.

  2. Enter your search term/s in the text bar. Use And, Or, or Not between multiple terms.
Click on the “Full Text” box and, if needed, the “Peer reviewed” box (you can also do this later).

Adjust Search Results as Needed! Use the panel on the left side of the screen to modify your search.
You can adjust your keywords in the box at the top, and use the box on the left side to check and uncheck the “Full text” and “Peer reviewed” boxes, and use the “Publication date” section to adjust how new or old the results are!

  3. Look at the Results list and find a hyperlinked title that interests you. Click on it.
Don’t click only on the first article link you see!
  4. Scan the information: title, author, publication information.
The title is in big text at the top of the page.
The author information is below the title.
The publication information is right after the author information.

  5. Locate and read the Abstract (short summary).
Does this article fit with what you are researching?
  6. If the abstract looks good, read the article.

You will find the reading options underneath the article title, author, and publication information.
“Full text” means a web-based view (html view), and is not always available.

“Full text” views (when available) also have translations and read-aloud options.
  7. If you decide you want to use the article, make sure to send a copy of the article to yourself.
To do this, find the “All Options” button in the top right-hand corner.

Once the “All Options” button is clicked, you will have the options in the MOST POPULAR row at the top to Download PDF, Email the article to yourself, or use CLOUD SAVING options below to save the article to Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.
If you save the article to a cloud-based service, PLEASE ALWAYS log into the cloud service and verify that the article has landed where it should.

You may also use the “Cite” feature at the top of the menu to grab a citation in a chosen format.

  8. Click on “Back to results” to get back to the Results list.
    Repeat Steps 3-7 as needed.
