EBooks and Audiobooks - MCC

The purpose of this guide is to familiarize patrons with finding, accessing and downloading electronic books, and to introduce users to all of the tools available with digital books, both print and audio.

Downloading to an iPhone or Android Devices (Libby, by Overdrive)

You can access Overdrive and all of the titles that you checkout on your mobile device! Overdrive's app, Libby, is easy to use and set up. To get started, just download Libby from Google Play or the iOS App Store.

When you open Libby for the first time, you will go through a few steps to set the app up on your device. The first screen asks if you have a library card - tap "yes."

You are then taken to a screen that asks how you would like Libby to find your library. Select "I'll Search for a Library."

The next screen asks you to type in the library's name or zip code. Type "Metropolitan Community College-KC" into the bar and select the "MOBIUS Consortium: Metropolitan Community College-KC" option.

On the following screen, you will need to add a library card for MOBIUS Consortium. You will be asked to "Sign in With My Card"

Then you will be asked to select one of the college libraries from the list. You want to select "Metropolitan Community College-KC". If you do not initially see it on the top of the list, you may need to select the "27 More" option.

You will then be given a message that you will have to sign in on your institution's secure site. Select "next" and enter your student or employee credentials on the next page.

Once you have signed in to Libby, you can use the navigation bar on the bottom of your screen to switch between the different functions of the app. The magnifying glass symbol is where you will search for books, the building symbol is your library's homepage, the three lines symbol in the center is your account page, the stacked books symbol is your shelf, and the clock symbol is your loans timeline.

While in your shelf, to begin reading or listening, all you have to do is tap "Open in Libby" or "Read With..." and you would have to select with which service, such as Libby or Kindle, you would like to open the book. While you are connected to the internet, your books should automatically download to your device so that you can access them offline.
