The 2019-2020 Common Read author Ta-Nehisi Coates will speak and answer students' questions.

Friday, April 26, at 10:00-11:00 a.m. in EC 019. 

This is part of Mr. Coates' Kansas City area tour.  The rest of his tour engagements are as follows: 
April 25 at 12:30 p.m.- Arts & Heritage Center- Conversation with authors Ta-Nehisi Coates, Tanner Colby, and Jacqueline Woodson for Johnson County Library Race Project students
April 25 at 6:30 p.m.- Washburn University- Conversation with authors Ta-Nehisi Coates and Tanner Colby, hosted by Brown V. Board

Arie Monroe

Kansas City-based comic artist Arie Monroe will discuss the role of African-Americans in comics, and will share her story from her perspective as a female African-American comic artist.

Michael Brown

Graphic novel author and MCC Board member Michael Brown will discuss the work that goes into creating a graphic novel, and the similar topics between his own works and Ta-Nehisi Coates' Black Panther.
