MCC - eBooks and Audiobooks

The purpose of this guide is to familiarize patrons with finding, accessing, downloading eBooks and to introduce users to all of the tools available with eBooks.

Downloading to a Computer (Overdrive)

Downloading EPUB eBooks from Overdrive

EPUB eBooks are a file that you can download to access your eBooks on your computer while you are offline. From your loans page, select "Download EPUB eBook."

You will receive a message stating that you will need to have Adobe Digital Edition or the Overdrive App installed on your computer to be able to access the EPUB file. This pop-up has links to each software application. Click on the one you wish to use (we suggest the Overdrive App as the program takes less time to install and set-up) and download and install the software to your computer.

Once you have downloaded the software, select "CONFIRM" on the pop-up to download the eBook. When you select the download it should automatically open in the program you installed.

NOTE: Once you have downloaded the software and confirmed that you have it installed, you will no longer receive the confirmation pop-up.

Downloading mp3 eAudiobooks from Overdrive

mp3 eAudiobooks can be downloaded to your computer to listen to offline, or to transfer to an mp3 player such as an iPod. From your loans page, select "Download mp3 Audiobook."

You will receive a message that states you must download the Overdrive App to listen to the audiobook on your computer. The notice has a link to the software that you can click on to begin the download.

Once you have downloaded the software, select "CONFIRM" on the pop-up to download the eAudiobook. When you select the download it should automatically open in the program you installed.
