MCC - eBooks and Audiobooks

The purpose of this guide is to familiarize patrons with finding, accessing, downloading eBooks and to introduce users to all of the tools available with eBooks.

Accessing and Reading on a Computer (Overdrive)

Access Overdrive eBooks and eAudiobooks by going to the MOBIUS Overdrive home page or by clicking on "Books Online" from the Library's database page.

On the Overdrive homepage, select "sign in" on the top right corner

Select MCC from he list of librarians and click "sign in"

From here you can enter your student or faculty ID and password to log into your account.

Use the search feature or browse through the homepage to find a title that you would like to check out.

When you locate a title, click on the item to go to the title's record. Here you will either have the option to borrow the item, or place the title on hold if someone has already checked it out.

When you click on "BORROW" you will get a pop-up that allows you to confirm your check-out and select how long you would like the check-out to last. The default is two weeks, but you can change it to one or three weeks.

After checking out a title, you will get a pop-up that gives you options for reading or listening to your title. You can access these options at any time after the checkout period from your loans page. You can go to your loans page by selecting the icon of three books in the top right corner of the Overdrive page.

There are several different options for reading or listening to a title:

  • Read/Listen Now in Browser: This option will open the eBook or eAudiobook in a new tab in your browser. You must have an internet connection to do this.
  • Read Now with Kindle: This option will open a new tab that prompts you to enter your Amazon account info and will walk you through sending the title to your Kindle device. For more information, click here.
  • Download EPUB/mp3 file: This option will allow you to download the eBook or eAudiobook to your computer for offline access. For more information, click here.
  • Read/Listen on Your Device: While this is not an option listed on your loans page, it is possible to download the Overdrive app, Libby, so that you can take your eBooks and eAudiobooks on the go. Libby is available on iOS and Android. For more information, click here
