Maple Woods - Common Reading Project - Outcasts United

Join with other students, staff, and faculty who are all reading the same book for Fall 2013.

The Story

Outcasts United tells the story of the Fugees, a soccer team made up of refugee boys, and their determined coach as they faced opposition and challenges in their town of Clarkston, Georgia. Learn more about the people involved on this page, visit the Fugees' website, or read the article that started it all: Refugees Find Hostility and Hope on Soccer Field.

Visit the other pages of this guide to find library and web resources on refugees, soccer, and world cultures. The Discussion Questions page lists some questions to start readers thinking about the book and the Fugees' story.
